AZHIKKAL FERRY VISIT
The construction of the Azhikkal Fishing Harbour was carried out by the Public Works Department in the Sixties of Last Century. After this Harbour development was carried out with as amount 400 lakhs in the year 2007. The length of breakwater of Azhikkal ferry is 1070m Southern side and 1150m Northern side. Total area of the ferry based in Area of the harbour based in 21210 m. Azhikkal Kallatti View Point near Azhikkal ferry is also a scenic place here. Landing wharf, Berthing Jetty, Basin Area, Gear repair shed, Boat repair yard & Slip way, Pealing Shed, Diesel outlets, Over Head Water Tank is also the main attractions in Azhikkal ferry.
VISIT MADAYIPARA
Madayipara is an extremely beautiful laterite plateau which narrates unique tales of vibrant hues in each season. This beautiful landscape creates wonders in colours. While the rain cloaks the place in a lush green blanket, the Summer brings with it the shades of the sun and Spring makes it a sea of blue. Spreading across an area of 700 acres, this hillock in Kannur district is a blend of beauty and history. Along with its picturesque landscapes, it also has an ancient fort called the Madayi Fort built by the Vallabha King of the Kolothu dynasty and a Jew Pond, the remains of the ancient Jew settlers.
KAVVAYI ISLAND VISIT
Recorded in the travel writings of scholars and explorers Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo, Kavil Pattanam, now called Kavvayi, has been recreated into a beautiful island. Spread over the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod, the Kavvayi islands, also called Kavvayi Kayal) are the largest backwater island group in north Kerala. Historically, kavil Pattanam used to be the hub for spice and gems trade, done through the port of Malabar, which also brought in precious Damascus steel. The port, however, was closed after it was banned by the British in the 17th century. The name Kavil Pattanam was changed to Kavvayi by Sir William Hogan.
EZHIMALA HANUMAN STATUE
VISIT
The
Anjaneya Statue or the statue of lord Hanuman in Ezhimala hills is the tallest
Hanuman statue in South India. The Anjaneya statue made of concrete is 41 feet
tall and is situated on the upper part of Top Road. The place where the statue
is situated is known as Anjaneya Giri. There is a small muthappan temple near
the statue. Everyone can visit and worship the Anjaneya statue irrespective of
caste or religion. The Hanuman statue has been drawing devotees even from Jammu
and Kashmir. An ancient mosque on the hill is another draw. The Anjaneya statue
and temple is about 215 meters above the sea on the on the eastern part of
Ezhimala hills (a hill reaching a height of 286 metres), in the Ezhimala
village of Ramanthali panchayat near Payyanur in Kannur district. Ezhimala was
one of the major battlefields of the Chola-Chera war of the 11th century.
VISIT CHOOTAD BEACH
Sun,
sand and sea with a backdrop of Casuarinas trees- Chootad Beach facing Ezhimala
is one of the most charming of beaches and yet remains relatively unnoticed on
the tourism map of Kerala. It lies a few kilometres away from Pazhayangadi town
in Kannur and is the ideal spot for those seeking peace and solitude. Under the
aegis of the District Tourism Promotion Council, there is a beach park and
other facilities available here. In the river near the beach there are facilities
for pedal boats and speed boats as well. A walk to the top weaving between the
Casuarinas trees also offers one facility to sit and relax with the soothing
breeze. With casuarinas trees providing shade and the beach facing Ezhimala,
Chootad Beach remains, however, little noticed in the tourist map of Kerala. It
shares its borders with a river on one side and sea on the other – a rare sight
indeed. 286 metres above, Ezhimala gives a mesmerizing sight from the beach.
The clean sea shore and surroundings attract many tourists here. Under the
aegis of the District Tourism Promotion Council, there is a beach park and
other facilities. In the river near the beach there are facilities for pedal
boats and speed boats. On walking in between the casuarinas trees and reaching
the top, there are facilities to sit and relax with the soothing breeze.
